I recently won this palette as part of an @urbandoll twitter giveaway. The palette is branded as a day palette (it’s literally called day slayer) so if you want a shimmer that blinds then this isn’t your gig.
Pro’s:
So morphe FINALLY moved into the 21st century and started using Mica as their base instead of talc. Tacl leaves a white ghost like coating which reduces pigment and makes it dusty. Mica on the other hand is more transparent and leaves a smooth coating. Talc is still contained in the product (I’m always worried about talc as it’s commonly linked with asbestos) but it’s sognificantly lower on the ingredient list.
Con’s:
Now yall know morphe palettes tend to be quite dusty. They have quite a bit of fall out and the pigment doesn’t transfer perfect. Another con would be morphes affiliate marketing method but that’s a post for a different time.
Best and worst of the shades:
Best:
“In the crease” is by far the best orange shade in this palette of, well, orange shades. The pigment is very nice and is smooth. “Glow” and “Highlight” are two of the shimmer shades. They’re both coppery rose gold shades. The pigmentation is nice and contains quite a lot of shimmer. “Define” and “editor” are the best neutral/base shades by far.
Worst:
Now yall know I love dragging so let’s get started *checks wig pins*. I have 0 idea what morphe was thinking with their “just eyes” and “sweet” shades. These shades are just basically dark brown/black with a VERY low glitter content. The shimmer is minimal in the palette but once you apply that? Girl it’s matte.
The meh:
So this palette has quite a lot of neutral shades (it’s a day palette so yeah) but I’m not sure how to feel about these shades. I know for a fact they won’t transfer well at all to poc or just anyone with a tan. They’re rather low pigment and seem to have issues with transferring from a brush to skin. They apply significantly better with fingers but honey this ain’t paint by fingers.
Summary:
For the price this is a pretty cute palette if you enjoy warm toned daytime palettes. If you like colour pops, high shimmer or a dramatic look then I’d probably dodge this product. The palette performs well for its price and the formula is much much smoother than other palettes in the same price range.
